We often dwell on what cultural changes we face if we move to a new country, or perhaps the linguistic challenges. But what happens when you move to a place whose climate is totally different from yours? I remember living in Bangladesh being a bit like stepping into a sauna the moment you left your air-conditioned haven, and the shimmering dry heat simply rising off the tarmac when our plane landed in Asmara Airport, in Eritrea. But when translator Clare Clarke took off from her native England to the farmost reaches of northern Scandinavia, she faced quite a different meteorological challenge...
